Construction Site Telecom Services
Modern construction management often requires on-site presence of a management team (superintendent, project manager, and staff) in mobile offices in one or more construction trailers at the construction site. These portable offices and their users require telecommunication services such as voice, Internet access, and virtual private networking that are often not readily available outside metropolitan areas. We have the knowledge and experience to help general contractors and their IT staff in all such situations.
Finding or Establishing Optimal Services at the Site
Available telecommunication services vary greatly based on the location of the construction site. For sites in developed metropolitan areas, we use our telecom optimization expertise and our service provider knowledge and contacts to select the optimal services. Otherwise, we work with landline or wireless telecom service providers in the area, as well as with the client IT department and cabling contractors, to bring each service from its nearest Point Of Presence (POP) to the construction site and trailer.
When bringing landline service to the construction site is too costly, we work with terrestrial wireless or satellite service providers and associated technology product and service providers to implement the needed services.
Managing the Provisioning Process
Managing service provisioning can be very taxing and time consuming for a construction company’s IT staff because of schedule changes and the complexity of dealing with the phone companies and the wireless, cable, and satellite providers. When our clients entrust us with managing the service provisioning process, we diligently follow up on every aspect of each service order and its implementation while providing timely information and status reports to our clients.
We address any cuts or service interruptions directly with the client project management staff and the service providers, while keeping the client informed on the developments. We also handle any changes in the required services, moving the trailers to different locations on the site, and relocating the construction staff to temporary offices inside the nearly completed building when these situations occur.
Managing the Service Removal Process
Finally, when the construction project is completed, telecommunication services must be disconnected and related equipment must be returned or removed by the service providers. This can also be taxing and time consuming because equipment removal is usually a low priority for service providers. Nevertheless, this process must be handled promptly so the construction company can deliver the new building to its owner. We take care of the entire service removal process with the appropriate diligence so our clients are fully successful.
